1-day Merzouga enduro route
A standard full-day route can run from Merzouga through the Erg Chebbi area, Begaa, Saf-Saf, Khamlia and Tisrdamen. The guide can shorten or adapt it for a half-day session, rider level, wind and sand conditions.
Merzouga → Erg Chebbi → Begaa
Start with a briefing and bike setup in Merzouga, then move onto rocky piste, dry riverbeds and selected Erg Chebbi sand before riding towards Begaa and the open desert.
Saf-Saf → Khamlia
Continue towards Saf-Saf and Khamlia, with the route mixing firmer hamada, sand and village tracks. Stops can include tea with a nomad family and lunch around Khamlia.
Tisrdamen → Merzouga
Finish through the southern Erg Chebbi area and Tisrdamen before returning to Merzouga. A full-day programme is typically around 6–8 hours including breaks; exact riding time is confirmed for your group.
Terrain around Erg Chebbi
A single riding day can mix several surfaces without long transfer roads.
Compacted piste
Firmer desert track that lets you settle into the bike and cover ground.
Stony hamada
Open rocky desert around the dune sea.
Dune edges & sand
Technical sections selected according to experience and current sand conditions.
Dry oued beds
Sandy watercourses and changing desert tracks between villages and dunes.
Old Paris-Dakar tracks near Merzouga
Around Merzouga and the southeast desert, some enduro itineraries use old rally pistes associated locally with the Paris-Dakar era. When one of these sections fits the confirmed route, it adds a very different type of riding to the dunes: open hamada, compacted piste, dry riverbeds and rocky desert.
Motorcycle Morocco Tours is an independent tour operator and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Dakar Rally or its organisers. We do not claim to reproduce an official historic rally stage; the exact piste used is confirmed with the local guide for the booked route and current conditions.

Frequently asked questions
Is a half-day option available?
Yes. We can organise either a half-day or full-day KTM enduro session from Merzouga.
Can I join if I have never ridden sand?
Tell us your off-road and sand experience before booking. The partner will confirm whether the route is suitable and how much sand should be included.
Are kilometres fixed?
No. A day around Erg Chebbi is adapted to sand, weather and rider level, so we do not publish a fake fixed distance.
Is riding equipment available?
Yes, through the local enduro partner, subject to size and availability. You may also bring your own preferred kit.
Do we ride the old Paris-Dakar route?
A full-day Merzouga route can include a local old rally-piste section when conditions and the group make it appropriate. The exact track is chosen by the guide on the day; this is a guided enduro experience, not an official Dakar product.
