Ocean on one side, argan country on the other, and almost no traffic.
The Atlantic coast is Morocco's overlooked riding. Everyone comes for the Sahara and the Atlas, and in doing so they skip several hundred kilometres of cliff road, empty sweepers and fishing villages between Agadir and the north. It can offer long, flowing coastal riding with fewer technical sections than sand or rough piste routes, while wind and local road conditions still need to be considered.
Long open curves with the ocean visible for most of the way, punctuated by climbs onto headlands and drops into fishing settlements. Road surface, wind and traffic vary by section, but away from larger towns the route often opens into long coastal stretches. We confirm the day's conditions and pace with the group.
Taghazout, Imsouane, Sidi Kaouki and a string of smaller places sit along this stretch — some surf towns, some working fishing harbours, most of them a few minutes off the main road. They are where the coast becomes interesting rather than merely scenic, and the detours are short.
The Atlantic wind is constant and the coast can be foggy in the early morning, particularly in summer, before clearing by mid-morning. Both are manageable; both are worth planning around. The compensation is temperature — this is often the only comfortable place to ride in Morocco in July and August.
The coast is at its best as a contrast rather than a whole trip. Two or three days by the ocean, then inland over the Tizi n'Test or into the Anti-Atlas, gives a variety of riding that a purely desert-focused route cannot match.
Two to three days lets you ride the coast properly and detour into the villages. A single day covers the distance but misses the point.
The Atlantic coast can be considered year-round; in high summer its maritime influence may feel more comfortable than hotter inland routes. Spring and autumn give the clearest air.
Casablanca→Casablanca
Our 12-day loop combines the Atlantic coast, the High Atlas and Anti-Atlas ranges, the kasbah valleys, remote southern pistes and the dunes of Erg Chebbi before returning to Casablanca. With nights in Essaouira, Marrakech, the Sahara and the Draa region, it combines a wide range of landscapes and riding conditions in one itinerary.
Agadir→Casablanca
A relaxed eight-day ride from Agadir to Casablanca along Morocco's Atlantic shore — empty coastal sweepers, the harbours of Essaouira and El Jadida, the Oualidia oyster lagoon — then a taste of the Atlas foothills before Casablanca. A scenic ocean-to-city route, and it runs in either direction.
